Random Ramblings...

Good morning Blogger-verse!

I hate to say it but I really don't have much to say! Things are kinda slow and boring right now… not sure how that happened but it leaves me w/ not much to talk about!

As you may know (omg… I just typed NO instead of KNOW… the swine is still in my brain) from last night's post, I downloaded some new TUNES on the iPizzy. I can't wait to hit the gym and test them out. A few new additions to my playlist always give me that extra little nudge I need. What tunes do you have on your fave playlist? I am always up for new ideas!

I *need* upbeat music when I run. I can't have any slow stuff bringing me down. I listen to mostly Hip Hop, R&B and Rap… LOL yep… sue me! Last night I added things like…

  • Tik Tok - Kei$ha
  • We Run LA - Ya Boy (LOL heard it on the Bad Girls Club and Midomi'd it! I heart my iPhone!)
  • Run This Town - Rhianna/Jay Z
  • Replay - Iyaz
  • Bad Romance - Lady Gaga

I think there were a couple more but they are escaping me at the moment!

I absolutely can't wait to hit the gym again but my energy level is ZERO. I could honestly fall asleep right now… here at my desk. I actually brought my gym bag w/ me today. I might give it a go after work. All I know is that I can't handle the thought of getting sick again or dragging this out any longer. Part of me wants to go but the other part wants to give myself a little more rest time. What do you think? I started getting sick about last Tuesday. Wed I felt crappy but went to work. Thurs/Fri I was down for the count. Better by Saturday and Sunday which brings me right about where I am now. I don't feel horrible but I don't feel great. I have read that if you are sick from the throat up (head cold, etc.) you are ok to work out but from the throat down (stomach, chest, etc.) you better take it down a notch and get better. I guess all I can do is go with how I feel. I could change, head to the gym and if I am not feeling a RUN maybe just walk and if I can't do that just stop and leave. Decisions, Decisions!

My "Care Package" and Dinner

You know I took a pic of the rockin' care package that Tiffany brought me...

Yes... I had already busted into the OJ (I needed to seriously stock up on the Vit C!) but you get the idea! =)

I am not proud to say that my eats were not real healthy today...

Coffee and a bagel from Starbucks (WOW Christmas Blend spun me out!)
Apple w/ LF cottage cheese
Greek style "pizza" on a Flat Out Wrap

As you can see my "pizza" consisted of hummus, spinach, red onion, red bell pepper, feta cheese and tomatoes! YUMMMY!

I also threw in a small brownie for good measure.

My cravings appetite is coming back!

Let me just say it's not the quality of what I ate I feel was bad (besides the bagel but that was a rarity) but the quantity wasn't great... it just wasn't enough. I feel satisfied but I know my body needs better. It's been through a lot!

I think I will download some new tunes for the ol' iPod so that as soon as my booty can hit that gym again I have some rockin' music to get my run on to! I am so excited to start running again! I gotta build that stamina back up! I am guessing I am going to have a hard time getting back to it. I feel so DRAINED.

Alright... I am out! Have a good night!

Back from the Swine...

Good morning blog world! I am BACK! =)

I am so sorry I left you hanging for SO long… the last post mentioned that I have been in a little bit of a workout "funk" which I really meant "rut". Just getting bored and stuff. Then I dropped off the face of the Earth for a few days! I assure you the two are in no way connected. I was very very very very very SICK! I say I had the swine but the hubs might argue! Lets just say there were EXTREME body aches, a really high temp, coughs, sniffles and (incase you can't tell) COMPLETE MISERY!

It all started Tuesday night… just minor body aches and a cough. I went to the doctor on Wednesday around 3 and he basically told me it was too early to give me anything and he didn't really act like testing me for the flu was necessary but he acted like that was what I had. ???? So he perscribed me Vicodin for my body aches and sent me on my merry little way. As soon as I got back to my desk (cause I work at the doctor!) I felt MUCH worse. (Figures!) I packed up my stuff and was at home in bed by 4… where I stayed pretty much until Saturday morning =( I ventured out to the couch a couple of times but was in a horizontal position ALL of Thursday and Friday. I couldn't EAT (which I thought was only if you had the stomach flu… not so), I could barely drink, I could defintely CRY… I had a meltdown or two. Mostly because I was SO MAD that the doctor didn't give me the necessary meds to help me and I thought I was going to have to go back… Everything is a million times worse when you are sick.

My 102.7 fever finally broke on Friday night and I felt like a new woman by the time Saturday morning rolled around.

My friend Tiffany and her hubby dropped off a goodie basket for me and a 40oz for the hubs! LOL Maybe to make me easier to deal with?

The silver lining to all of this is that since I couldn't eat I lost a few lbs. That's nice since I have yet to be able to hit the gym. I am going to take a couple days to re-coop. I am still sinus-y, coughy and sniffly.

I don't really have anything GOOD to share w/ you as far as food goes. Like I said… I barely ate while I was sick and my appetite is still suffering but its coming back around.

That's all for now! I am still alive and getting back to "healthy".

NO MORE.........

Writer's block?

Good morning bloggies =)

Ok so yes… I have been MIA the last couple days. I'm sorry to leave you hanging. I have had a bit of writers block lately. I feel so boring. I am busy as usual yet I feel I have nothing new going on in the way of my workouts or healthy eating. I am in a bit of a "funk" if you will. I feel good/happy but my motivation level is lacking and honestly I feel like I am just doing the bare minimum to stay in shape and not get "fat" LOL.

To be honest I want more… I want to set some goals and accomplish them but I really don't know exactly WHAT it is that I am looking for. Does that even make sense?

I also want to give my blog more substance and maybe even a revamp. Any ideas? Is there anything you would like to see more of or anything you want to know about me? =) If so, please feel free to ASK/TELL!

That's what I have going on today. Oh… and I think I am getting sick! Blahhhhh!

The Loooong Thanksgiving Weekend is winding down =(

Well hello there! I know... I haven't been the best blogger this weekend, but it's been a busy one!

Where do I begin?

I guess I will start with Thanksgiving day!

I woke up Thursday morning around 7... which IS sleeping in for me =) I went for a quick 3 miler. I walked and ran since my stamina isn't quite up to parr quite yet w/ the outside runs. Remember... I am a treadmill runner. Honestly the outdoor run kicked my booty. I am not even sure how much of it I actually ran. I would walk then run and repeat when ever I felt enough energy. My butt and legs are sore even today. Outdoor running works some very different muscles. I felt amazing when I got home.

After my run I started my Green Bean Casserole (recipe courtesey of Martha Stewart). I started with frying the shallots for the topping. They turned out so good. Then I began w/ the green beans, mushrooms and onions and the "gravy"-like sauce that was the cream of mushroom from scratch! I followed the recipe to a T (except I left out red bell peppers... they just didn't sound good in that recipe) As I was waiting for the cream of mushroom to thicken, it wouldn't. I called my aunt in a panic! The recipe didn't say to bring the milk/flour/butter mixture to a slight boil before removing it from the heat. DUH... rookie mistake... I know that makes the concauction thicken. I don't know what I was thinking. I was just trying to follow the recipe exactly. Anyway... I was able to save it by bringing it to a slight boil. It thickened exactly as I needed it too and the green bean casserole was saved! LOL I mixed the blanched green beans, mushrooms and onions into the sauce and saved the fried onions for serving.

I can't believe I forgot to take a picture when it was done! The only picture I have of it was when it sat on the table ready to be devoured w/ the rest of the goodies! I'm sorry!

Here's the spread...

We like to snack before dinner... a lot!

I had a few snacks, but I did VERY well pacing myself. I really wanted to devour a few of these things but I held out and had a small bite of everything... but no where near too much. This is GOOD for me LOL. I am always FULL when dinner rolls around!

I also had a lovely glass of red...

THE MAIN EVENT...

Not one but TWO turkeys... oven baked and BBQ'd

Oven

BBQ'd

The spread

My FAVE... mashed potatoes!!!

I had never had a brussle sprout before but these were AMAZING. I guess you can't go wrong cooking them in BACON =)

The fam! No one wanted to take pics... they just wanted to eat! LOL

LOL... my brother (on the left) LOVES Step Brothers... he was portraying one of the characters here!

My plate...

Another glass...

My plate is CLEAN

After dinner settled I had a small bit of bread pudding! DELICIOUS! Sorry... no pic of that!

We headed home not long after the bread pudding and I went to bed around 10. No work but I had to get my rest for BLACK FRIDAY shopping! LOL

I set the coffee maker for 3:30am which is when I rolled out of bed...

My aunt and I headed straight for Target. They opened @ 5 and we were there! We scored of towels for $1.50 each! LOL everyone else ran for electronics and toys... We stocked up and then headed to the toy section. We got some food deals for the kiddos. We are such light weights that after Target we just headed home. We were going to brave Walmart but everyone knows how I feel about that store and we just didn't feel it was worth it! LOL We got home and looked online for some deals. As we were searching the web it began to POUR... I mean POURING RAIN. I was so glad we decided to pass on Walmart! LOL We would have been out in that mess.

I came home after shopping but not before I stopped @ Starbucks and picked up a grande NF, NW Gingerbread Latte AND a spinach feta wrap. MMMMM

I was talking myself into going for a quick run (the sky had actually cleared up for awhile) and looked outside and the sky was turning black again. The hubby said "It's not going to rain anymore". Luckily I didn't listen to him. I wanted tacos for dinner so I went to the grocery store. On my way it started to sprinkle. While in the store I heard LOUD claps of thunder. I paid for my items and went to the door as it started to POUR DOWN RAIN. It was raining SO hard I was drenched when I got to my car. On the way home all the gutters were flooded from the fallen leaves and I was driving through a freakin' river. I got home and saw HAIL on the ground. I ran inside and said to hubby "It's not going to RAIN" LOL! Good thing he doesn't make a living as a weather man! It was a nice storm but not something I wanted to run in!

We had a couple friends over for tacos. Really bad FRIED tacos =) and beer of course. It was fun.

Yesterday I was feeling the need to hit the road for a run. Daisy REALLY wanted to come w/ me so I took her w/ me. Daisy's not very well trained on her leash so she pulled me most of the way. I try and try to get her to stand by me and not pull and choke herself but she likes it... I guess?

We only made it about 1.50 miles. I got a little weirded out by some dudes that drove by in a hoopty mini van. They turned a corner where I had crossed a street and must have turned around to come back becuase they felt the need to say "DAMN! Who's walking who?". I tried to be nice and said that she was giving me a run for my money. They drove away and to my surprise only went around the block and came BACK and the driver thought it would be a good idea to give me some pointers on dog walking. I kept walking and they drove away again. I was worried they were going to come back (because this was the 3rd time they had crossed my path) and I had forgotten my pepper spray so Daisy and I jogged home a little earlier than planned. I was bummed that my workout was cut short but people freak me out. It just wasn't worth it.

I came home and hubby and I showered and went to TACO BELL. I know... horrible. I had a nacho supreme AND a Black Jack Taco! MMMMM so bad but SO good!!! I ate every bite.

After Taco Bell the hubs conned me into going to Walmart. Ugh... he KNOWS how much I HATE that store. It took everything I had to walk in the door. I made him HURRY and I also made him buy me the New Moon book =)

Very happy and excite. LOL

I read for a bit when I got home and then made us YUMMY grilled cheeses for dinner

MMM I added spinach, sprouts and procutto!

Ok... now that this monster post is DONE I am going to hit the road for a run. I am also going to leave Daisy at home and wear a hat, sunglasses and a BIG sweatshit in hopes that nobody will feel the need to talk to me for any reason. LOL People scare me!

And I'm off!

Thanksgiving Eve!

Happy day before Thanksgiving!

I am so freaking excited this morning.

1. It's my FRIDAY

2. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I get to spend it w/ some of the people I am thankful for!

3. I got to wear my new Uggs and JEANS to work today! Ahhhh I forgot to tell you that some doucher spilled BEER all over them on Friday night! Oh well… he apologized and the damage is not that bad! I had to forgive… but haven't forgotten ! LOL

I brought my gym clothes but to be honest I don’t know that I will put them on today! It's too much like Friday and I want to get home and be w/ my baby! I plan on squeezing in a workout in the morning before the FEASTING begins and if everything goes according to plan I will also get my run on after BLACK FRIDAY (black taco HAHAHAHA) shopping… and the rest of the weekend for that matter. I need it!

I didn't take pics of everything that crossed these lips yesterday but the pics I did take I can't show you right now. I forgot my camera =( I was very "happy and excite" (Borat haha!) because I decided to whip up spaghetti and meatballs last night. I know it doesn't sound that hard but normally when I make something like that I have a recipe to follow. Last night I winged it and me and the hubby were shocked… my meatballs were SO FREAKIN GOOD. I will post a pic later. I opted out on the spaghetti part and substitued a glass of red wine =)

The rest of the days eats weren't bad but weren't that good.

Pita chips
Luna Bar
A turkey on wheat w/ lettuce, tomato, onion, peperoncinni and CHEDDAR… yep… I got cheese. I did not have mustard or mayo.

The turkey sandwich filled me up until dinner... it was big. Before that I was hungry but (and this is stupid) only had healthy stuff here at work and REALLY didn't want anything I had… so I just didn't eat until lunch. I know, I know… dumb but that's the way it goes sometimes.

I have been pretty much off the BFL wagon. I am keeping up w/ the workouts but its obvious I need to eat better things and probably more of them. My runs seem to be suffering! Getting harder and harder… I am only at 3 miles! I shouldn't have to dig that deep! I feel pretty lame about my food choices lately or lack there of… it just goes to show how LAZY I am!

Anyway… no more complaining! It's my own fault… I need to do what I need to do! That's that.

Ok… I am off to wait for 5 o'clock! =)

I hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving weekend! =)

It's a SHORT week!

Morning!!!

I forgot to mention yesterday how EXCITED I am that it's a short week! YAY for Thanksgiving! Oh btw... I am making green bean casserole... for the first time EVER! I am going to use REAL green beans and hopefully it turns out! Keyword = Hopefully! Wish me luck!

Soooo it looks like today is my Thursday! Maybe I can talk the boss into letting us wear jeans tomorrow since it's our Friday. She normally goes for it! =)

Yesterday was super busy at work but for some reason it still DRUG BY at a snails pace. I got pretty frustrated at one point. I am the admin. secretary to a director of multiple medical departments. She is busier than I could ever imagine and I realize that. However... if I need to ask her a question (which is ALWAYS my LAST RESORT) I feel totally intimidated and basically like I am a piece of crap for asking. I know she is busy and is probably at her whits-end 90% of the time BUT I need to ask questions because in the end it's really more efficient that way. I get so frustrated because she gets so irritated when I ask. Ugh. I wish she would realize I am only asking so I get it right the first time.

Anyway... enough of that!

Yesterday's eats were pretty decent. I didn't take pics of everything... but here's the run down...

Breakfast - SD toast w/ PB
Snack - Stacy's Pita Chips (another addiction)
Lunch - Leftver vegetarian fajitas... and a small flour tortilla. I NEVER eat the tortillas but they are so good!

Mid-afternoon snack was a Peppermint Stick Luna bar and some baby carrots
Dinner - Soup and Salad

Dessert - Not one but TWO uncooked white choco chip macadamia cookies. So good!!!!

After dinner I became glued to my book. I tried to stay away from the hype... I really did but here ya go, I am reading...

Sorry it's not right side up! LOL

As I said I tried to stay away from the hype... I am not much of a READER as it is and to be honest people and their Twilight obsession are kind of ANNOYING! hahahahahahaha. I have to confess I literally could not put the book down. I found myself reading it in my car after lunch or any time I had a few minutes to kill. I was shocked at how INTO IT I got. It's actually a really good book and I think I will be picking up New Moon SHORTLY! And... probably asking for the other two for Christmas! LOL When I say I am not a "reader" I am serious... I only read magazines. I know that reading stimulates the mind but it's just not my thing. I thought people were full of crap when they would tell me about how addicting this book was. I do have to say that they portray Edward Cullen as WAY better looking in the book. But, interestingly enough, after reading the book I find him much more attactive... weird!

There you go... my secret is out!

Exercise you ask?

I ran a quick 2 miles at the gym and did an upper body circut. I am planning on keeping my workouts up this week. I will hopefully be able to squeeze in a run on Thursday BEFORE dinner. Friday... I am thinking I will be getting some RUNNING in while shopping but I plan to run afterward at some point. Maybe after a nap?????

Alright lovelies... I am off to beautify myself! Have a great day!
